At DTUK Performance we believe in complete transparency. This page explains exactly how our plug & play tuning boxes and PedalBox systems relate to your vehicle’s manufacturer warranty and insurance.
DTUK tuning boxes are plug-and-play modules that connect to the engine sensors. They do not rewrite, flash or modify the ECU software in any way. The original factory software remains completely untouched.
When the tuning box is removed, the vehicle returns to its original factory condition with no electronic trace left behind.
Because our systems do not alter the ECU software, the risk of them being detected by a main dealer is extremely low.
Important points to understand:

Our systems are specifically designed to be completely reversible for this reason, giving you maximum flexibility and peace of mind.
In the UK you are legally required to declare any modifications that could affect the performance or value of your vehicle to your insurance provider.

Failure to declare modifications can result in your insurance being invalidated.
Most insurers will simply note the modification and may apply a small additional premium. We recommend contacting your insurance company before fitting any performance product so you know exactly where you stand.
Exactly the same principles apply to our PedalBox range. These units only optimise the accelerator pedal signal and do not modify the ECU software. They are fully removable and leave no trace when uninstalled.
As with tuning boxes, we recommend declaring the PedalBox to your insurer and removing it before any dealer visits if you wish to keep the vehicle in completely standard condition.
No product can guarantee zero impact on a manufacturer’s warranty. Because our systems do not rewrite the ECU, the risk of detection is extremely low. Most customers remove the unit before any main-dealer work as a precaution.
Yes. In the UK you are legally required to declare any modification that could affect performance or value. This includes both engine tuning boxes and PedalBox systems.
Because the original ECU software is never altered, detection risk is extremely low. When the unit is unplugged the vehicle returns to completely standard condition with no electronic trace.
Yes. The same principles apply. PedalBox only optimises the accelerator signal, does not touch the ECU, is fully removable, and should be declared to your insurer.
Simply unplug the tuning box or PedalBox, store it safely, and keep the original packaging. The vehicle will then be in fully standard condition.
