A DTUK BMW diesel tuning box is an external performance system developed for the individual engine application. Rather than rewriting the original ECU software, the tuning system works alongside the vehicle’s existing engine management through the relevant sensor connections.

PedalBox EV for BMW i Models

BMW’s electric range includes models such as the i4, i5, i7, iX, iX1, iX2 and iX3.

Pure electric BMWs do not use a conventional petrol or diesel engine, so DTUK does not offer an engine tuning box for them in the same way as a 320d, 330d or turbocharged petrol BMW.

Compatible BMW electric vehicles can instead use PedalBox EV to alter accelerator response.

On the current DTUK website, compatible electric applications may be shown with PedalBox Pro as the selectable product. For an EV application, the product supplied is the dedicated PedalBox EV version.

PedalBox EV does not increase the electric motor’s maximum power output. Its purpose is to change how the vehicle responds to accelerator input and provide selectable driving-response modes.

The original BMW ECU remains responsible for the vehicle’s engine-management strategy. The DTUK tuning module works externally with the relevant sensor signals rather than rewriting the original ECU calibration.

BMW Tuning Box or ECU Remap?

A tuning box and an ECU remap are two different ways of increasing engine performance.

An ECU remap changes the calibration stored inside the vehicle’s engine ECU. A DTUK tuning box operates externally and does not rewrite that original ECU software.
