I’m back in love with the S4 ❤…..no, seriously, I had big doubts about this car when I first took delivery in March. I’d come out of an S3 which was mapped to 360bhp and seriously quick off the mark. The S4 left me a little deflated tbh, the V6 gurgle made up for some of that, but the lag, unresponsiveness and general cost of running it for not a lot of return had me calling Audi for an SQ5! That’s another story which quickly became a non starter as I’m leasing the car – and well of you don’t know the lease return only really becomes viable in the last 2/3rds of the term!
So, what to do with a pretty practical car (avant) but with the limitations of a lease!!?? Never had a lease car before and always tastefully modded my previous motors (mainly Audis) so felt a remap was a def non starter, especially as seen as I’d managed to blow the S3s turbo!
In between the S3 and S4 I shoehorned in a Cayenne 3.0tdi. Great family motor, but not me! That said I saw a DTUK box on Ebay for it and give it a whirl! Went well, but the fast Audi was too much of a draw and I pushed on an S4 avant after test driving the S5. No idea how or why I went for the S4 avant over the S5, I wanted the S5 ???.
1xweek later I was the proud owner of a lovely black S4 A, first thing I had to do was get the crappy 19’s off and replaced with some RS6 20’s. Love them alloys!
That settled my mod crave for all of a week! Eventually looked at a few forums and the fb S4/5 page which brought me to this group. Wasn’t long before the lure of extra horses lead me to go for the box!
So, 1 x week on from fitting the box I’m absolutely blown away by its transformation of my S4 Avant! I was a little skeptical as to the claims, but I can vouch they are as per advertised. Had the box on 2/+1 then tried a few combos but have now settled on 2/+2. The car is a monster on this setting – well it is for me. Sport mode Dynamic is brutal now, and has 100% improved my drive ability. Beforehand I was hesitant at junctions, overtaking etc, now it leaves me with no doubts – it literally flies!!!
I won’t be doing anything else to the S4, it doesn’t need it, and now I gave the performance the car deserves I’m enjoying it again. The 3 year lease was looking like a chore before the box, now I can’t wait to get in for a drive.
I’m not affiliated to DTUK at all, just wanted to offer my findings to help any that might be sitting on the fence! Don’t, best £500 I’ve spent on any of my cars (I’ve had lots!!), including remaps!!
