The warranty does not cover faults or damage resulting from circumstances including:
Products must be installed and used in accordance with the supplied instructions and DTUK guidance.
One of the most common questions we receive is whether fitting a DTUK tuning box will affect the vehicle manufacturer’s warranty.
DTUK tuning boxes do not rewrite the vehicle’s original ECU software. Our systems work with relevant vehicle sensors rather than replacing the vehicle’s original ECU calibration.
When correctly removed, the original ECU calibration remains unchanged.
However, DTUK cannot guarantee that fitting an aftermarket performance product will have no effect on a vehicle manufacturer’s warranty.
Every vehicle manufacturer has its own warranty policies and procedures, and these can vary between manufacturers, models and individual circumstances.
We therefore recommend checking the applicable manufacturer’s warranty terms before fitting any aftermarket performance product.
DTUK does not guarantee the continuation of a vehicle manufacturer’s original warranty.
Unlike an ECU remap, a DTUK tuning box does not overwrite the vehicle’s original ECU software.
The system operates through connections to relevant vehicle sensors rather than permanently rewriting the vehicle’s ECU calibration.
However, vehicle manufacturers continue to develop diagnostic equipment and software. For this reason, DTUK cannot guarantee that an aftermarket product will never be detectable by a particular manufacturer or diagnostic system.
Customers should consider the potential implications of any aftermarket vehicle modification before purchase and use.
A tuning box, PedalBox or other aftermarket performance product may constitute a modification to your vehicle.
You should notify your motor insurance company of any modification that alters your vehicle from its original factory specification.
It is the vehicle owner’s responsibility to ensure that their insurance company is informed and that the vehicle remains appropriately insured.
DTUK cannot guarantee that a particular insurer will accept a specific modification or that your insurance premium will remain unchanged.
If you are unsure whether a particular DTUK product needs to be declared, please speak directly to your insurance provider before fitting the system.
The power and torque figures shown on the DTUK website are based on testing and development data, including rolling-road testing undertaken in the UK and Germany.
Actual results can vary between individual vehicles because of factors including:
For this reason, DTUK cannot guarantee that an individual vehicle will produce exactly the same horsepower, torque or fuel-economy figures shown on our website or in our literature.
Fuel consumption also depends heavily on how the vehicle is driven and therefore cannot be guaranteed.
Some DTUK tuning systems can be transferred to another compatible vehicle, but this depends on the original system and the replacement vehicle.
A transfer may require a different vehicle-specific wiring loom and updated software.
If you have changed your vehicle and would like to know whether your existing DTUK system can be transferred, please contact us with details of your original purchase and your new vehicle.
DTUK cannot provide warranty or aftersales support for second-hand tuning systems.
Our systems are programmed for specific vehicle applications, so using a system with incorrect software or an inappropriate wiring loom can result in the system not operating correctly.
We also regularly encounter second-hand systems that have been incorrectly advertised, misidentified, damaged or outdated.
Due to data-protection requirements, DTUK can only discuss the original purchase with the customer whose name appears on the original invoice.
We do not recommend combining a DTUK tuning box with an ECU remap or another aftermarket tuning device.
A tuning box and ECU remap are both designed to alter engine performance, but they do so in different ways. Combining different tuning systems can produce unpredictable results and may move the vehicle outside the parameters for which the DTUK system was developed.
For the best results, use the DTUK system specified for your exact vehicle and engine application.
DTUK tuning boxes do not rewrite the vehicle’s original ECU software. When correctly removed, the original ECU calibration remains unchanged.
DTUK cannot guarantee the effect of an aftermarket modification on a manufacturer’s warranty. Manufacturer warranty policies vary, so you should check the applicable warranty terms for your vehicle before fitting a tuning system.
Yes. You should notify your insurer of modifications that alter your vehicle from its original factory specification and confirm that your policy provides appropriate cover.
Standard tuning-box modules have a 3-year warranty, while Bluetooth-enabled modules have a 5-year warranty. Tuning-box looms and blanking plugs have a 1-year warranty, and PedalBox systems have a 2-year warranty.
